9th grade U.S. History students in Ms. Ford’s class at Crisfield Academy & High School are taking time this week to honor local veterans through a meaningful Veterans Day interview project.
Each student interviewed a veteran — often a parent, grandparent, family member, friend or neighbor— asking thoughtful questions about their time in service and what life was like during and after their military experience. Students then presented their interview findings in class, reflecting on what they learned and how it shaped their appreciation for those who serve.
Among the stories shared were powerful memories of an inbound Iranian missile warning, crawling under live fire in boot camp, driving supply trucks through dangerous zones, learning to swim at boot camp, jumping from helicopters into the ocean, and witnessing the hardships of war-torn countries. Many veterans also shared concerns about the care and support available to those returning home with physical or mental injuries — and the growing number of homeless veterans.
Thank you to Ms. Ford and her students for this heartfelt project and for helping our community remember and honor the courage and sacrifices of our veterans. ❤️🤍💙
