Out of an abundance of caution, Somerset County Public Schools (SCPS) will be closed tomorrow, Friday, October 31, 2025, for students and all staff due to the anticipated overnight rise in tides and expected flooding impacts in low-lying areas. Please use caution and avoid flooded roads.

Due to unanticipated high tides & flooding, all SCPS Elementary Schools will be closed today, Thursday, October 30, 2025.

The Maryland Center for School Safety is hosting a 30-minute virtual Safe Schools Maryland Parent Presentation on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 7 PM.

This session provides an overview of the Safe Schools Maryland Anonymous Reporting System, available to all K–12 schools statewide. Parents will learn how to use the system, what types of concerns should and shouldn’t be reported, and will have time for Q&A with MCSS staff about school safety topics.
