December 17, 2025 (Westover, MD) - At its December 16, 2025 regular open meeting, the Somerset County Board of Education approved a revision to the 2025-2026 academic calendar that reflects agreements reached this fall regarding staff workdays and required professional learning.
In addition, SCPS was required to implement its third and final inclement weather make-up day resulting from the system closure on December 5. As a result, Thursday, April 2 will now be a school day with early dismissal for students, with professional learning for staff taking place during the remainder of the day.
Calendar Changes:
January 16 and February 13: Early dismissal with PM staff professional learning
April 1: Full instructional day
April 2: School day with early dismissal for PM staff professional learning
April 7: Full professional learning day for staff - Students do not report
June 15: Last day of school for students
Early dismissal adjustments: previously scheduled for June 10, 11 and 12 have been moved to June 11, 12, and 15
